Grasshopper plugin analytics

The Monoceros 3 Grasshopper plugin collects anonymous usage data to help us understand how the software is used and to guide product improvements. The following data is collected:

All data is associated with a random anonymous identifier (UUID) that cannot be linked to your identity. This analytics identifier is separate from the device identifier used for license validation, ensuring that analytics data cannot be linked to your license email. No project data, geometry, file names, or personal information is collected. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

To determine country of use, your IP address is sent to ip-api.com for geolocation lookup. Only the resulting country code is stored; the IP address is never persisted by us.

You can opt out of plugin analytics at any time by creating an empty file at %LOCALAPPDATA%\monoceros\analytics_optout (Windows) or ~/.local/share/monoceros/analytics_optout (macOS), or by setting the environment variable MONOCEROS_NO_ANALYTICS=1.

You may request access to or deletion of analytics data associated with your anonymous identifier by contacting info@monoceros.tools.

Newsletter and waitlist

If you sign up for our newsletter or workshop waitlist, we collect your email address. This is processed by Buttondown, our email service provider. We use your email address solely to send you updates about workshops, courses, and Monoceros news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

Inquiry forms

If you submit a workshop inquiry or contact form, we collect the information you provide (typically name, email, institution or company, and your message). Form submissions are sent to our server and stored in our database. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry.

Software licensing

If you purchase a Monoceros 3 license through Gumroad, your payment and account data is processed by Gumroad according to their privacy policy. We receive your name and email address to manage your license.
