Discrete assembly
Discrete assembly builds a design from distinct parts. The designer authors the parts, the rules for combining them, and the question the resulting arrangement must answer.
Connections taking shape.
Every arrangement uses the same parts and connection rules. Generate another result and compare where the tubes join.

- 01
Define the parts
Model the geometry of each part and define its place in the kit.
- 02
Write the rules
Specify which faces can connect and how parts meet the boundary.
- 03
Generate & check
Run the solver and check the resulting arrangement against the rules.
- 04
Review the design
Review the arrangement against the design brief and revise the kit where needed.
Checking the result
The solver checks the encoded connection rules. The design also needs assessment for its intended use, such as comfort, circulation, or fabrication.
Decide which requirements can be encoded or checked by software and which need design review. Record the checks performed when evaluating a result.

Combining Monoceros with other tools
Monoceros can generate the assembly while custom programs prepare its inputs or process the result. The catalogue and project checks provide a shared basis for the tools.
Sitting Islands combines native seating generation with custom figure and backrest planning. Courtyard Kit uses paired connectors to keep whole shapes intact. The project accounts describe the work assigned to each tool.

in Monoceros.
Wave Function Collapse is the algorithm used by the Grasshopper plug-in. It selects an allowed part, propagates the consequences through the grid, and repeats. If a contradiction leaves a cell with no option, another attempt may be needed.
The returned complete arrangement satisfies its connection rules. A run can also end without a result. Its rules are defined by the designer.
